We are very proud of our Music Ministry here at St. James. We offer three different styles hoping to please everyone with at least one of them.
The TRADITIONAL CHOIR:
Our traditional choir is comprised of a group of parishoners that join together each week to lead our congregation in song prayer at the 4:00 pm Mass on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays of each month. In addition to our Saturday Masses, we also sing at the 12:00 noon Mass on the 3rd Sunday of each month. We are a group of people who genuinely care for each other and look forward to seeing each other at practice sessions and at Mass. For our members, the Traditional Choir is a place of belonging where we can share our diverse talents and bring something extra to each celebration in which we take part. The sincere affection of our members for one another and our ministry is reflected in the quality of our contribution to St. James' spiritual life. Our choir is made up of many voices joining together in song, yet sounding as one. We enjoy singing and blending our voices with each other to one "Choir Voice". We request that members be able to dedicate themselves to our Wednesday evening practices in the Music Room at 6:00 pm and worship with us at our Choir Masses. Our choir is open to all form high school sophomores to senior citizens and every age in between. Come sing with us! For additional information please contact the Director of Music at 869-3130 ext 308.
The CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP:
The St. James Contemporary Music Group is a contemporary music ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists who lead our assembly in song at the 9:30 am family Mass on Sundays, as well as several other liturgical celebrations during the year. Our music enables the assembly to be active participants in the Mass by encouraging those who gather together to join together in song. Music is an integral part of any liturgical celebration and very often, it is the music that touches people in a special way. It enables the assembly to focus on a particular action, respond in a meaningful way, or get in touch with their inner-most being. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings starting at 8:00 pm in the Music Room adjacent to the chapel. We are always seeking to expand our group. If you would like additional information concerning our group, please call the music office at 869-3130 ext 308. The director of the Contemporary Group will be in touch with you.
The CHILDREN'S CHOIR:
St. James' Children's Choir is open to all boys and girls who have received the Sacrament of Eucharist. We accept members from grades 3 through 8 who wish to praise God in song. We are hoping to expand our Children's Choir this coming year. Our Children's Choir sings at the 4:00 pm Mass on the 3rd Saturday of each month and also at the family Masses on Christmas Eve. As with any activity that involves children, the parents play a responsible role for getting their son or daughter to and from all practices and Masses. Practices are held on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in the music Room adjacent to the chapel. The congregation at St. James is very responsive to our Children's Choir. If you would like additional information, please call the music office at 869-3130 ext 308.
